Purposeful Ponderings
Miscellaneous thoughts, ideas and just all around ponderings. Some of my own, some belonging to others that are worth sharing... So what's the purpose of Purposeful Ponderings? It is my desire that this will be a tool for myself and others to stay pointed toward Christ always remembering this is not our home while we make the most out of this one blessed life we are granted.

2016...Wait, what?
I'm just baffled at times when I think about it being the year 2016. Just today I was walking our sweet dog, looking at her thinking, "Lulu where did you get that gray hair?". And not a split second later I was back to reality. That little first grader that came home to find her surprise puppy, is now a Sophomore in college and has just gone back to college following Christmas break. So, baby girl is older, Lulu has a precious gray hound dog snout and mama thinks it's awfully quiet in the house.
We did quite a bit of movin' and shakin' here at our house in 2015. We finished up some laminate flooring in a few rooms, had our master bathroom demolished renovated, had the garage floor epoxied and had a lot of painting and moulding done. It was quite nerve wracking exciting. One of my main goals for this year is just to get everything back up on the walls. Why is that so hard? Everytime I start to work on my gallery layout I feel like I need a Xanax Interior Designer. If I ever finish it, I will definitely post pics. Seriously, I will be so proud.
So, what's the theme for your 2016? Personally, I'm winging it. Neatly. In a planner. With maybe a smidge of washi tape.
XOXO,
Lori

Saturday DIY
One of the things to do on my summer list was to paint a few pieces of furniture. I read and researched and read some more about how to get the look I wanted. The catch however is that I have a lazy bone this summer and I didn't want to sand etc etc yada yada. So...I just jumped right in. Hubs got right to work helping me get the hardware off that had been painted over at least three times. Lets hear it for the boy!
And you can see that it was a lovely blue before I started the black. This corner piece was in my childhood home and it has a layer of ivory covered by sunflower yellow covered with the blue shown above. I think it's actually more paint than wood. Here's a few more pics.
And of course I had to throw in a picture of hubs playing machine gun with the hammer that he was using to do repair work on the fence. Boys will be boys. Anyway, I have finished painting and it's drying and we'll make a run to Lowes in a bit for new hardware. The final pictures will be up soon after we get it all put back together again. I will allow the paint to sit for a few days then follow up with several coats of clear wax and buff to a nice finish. If I'm happy with the results you can follow me as I also tackle a buffet and hutch I have that needs updating. XOXOXOX Lori

Scrumptious follow-up...
So, apparently I have got to get used to this blogging thing. I totally forgot to take pictures of our salmon dinner tonight but it was yummy! I had mine in "slider" form, on a wheat bun. I just wasn't into the idea of prepping bacon so mine was sans bacon and lettuce. I slathered on some prepared chipotle mayo and added the salmon, old bay seasoning and a slice of beautiful deep red tomato. Delish! Hubs just dove into his with a fork. He's a simple guy like that.
Scrumptious Sunday...
Waiting on hubs to get out of the shower after a long hot afternoon outside working on a few fence repairs then we're headed to our neighborhood Publix to pick up a few things for dinner. Tonight we're having Salmon Sliders I discovered while I was helping with the fence scrolling Pinterest. Follow me on Pinterest and you'll see them posted on my "Yummy for my Tummy" board. Can't wait to see how they turn out. Stay tuned, update later tonight to follow.

Journaling on the Journey
Thought I'd share my journal entry from a few days ago. God is so good!
What a super crazy day. Prayed over the office computer that habitually crashes and of late just flat wouldn't power on and guess what? The Lord just powered that sucker right up. I just asked for it to run for a few minutes so we could get a back-up file saved but it ended up running perfectly all day. Go God! Then I had to run over to Wimberly's school to iron out a scheduling issue and once again, I threw it down before The Lord and let him work it out and just for some backup I had Bible verse written on my hand to remind me to keep the lips zipped if they weren't going to be saying nice things. Everything worked out beautifully at the school with nothing much more than a slight hiccup to our dual enrollment plans. Once again - Go God! Helped Wim create her first blog tonight and now I'm tired. Goodnight!
Check out Leslie...
